The Nation of Ephaim

The nation of Israel is made up of 13 tribes that are named after the sons of Jacob recorded in Genesis. Joseph was given the position of firstborn over the other 11 sons of Jacob (Gen 48) and subsequently, his two sons were exalted to equal positions with their uncles. They were not half tribes each, but Manasseh the older actually took Joseph's 11th position, and Ephraim took the 13th slot as the younger of the two. These numbers figure prominently in their history and are recorded in order of birth. Ephraim was then given the position of firstborn by Jacob himself in that same chapter and repeated by the Lord in Jeremiah 30-33.

Then, there was a civil war in which the ten northern tribes, led by Ephraim, rebelled against the three southern tribes led by Judah, which was in accordance with the Will and Word of the Lord (1 Kings 11), and from thereafter they were counted as two separate nations (Ez 35:10 etc).

Then, the Assyrians came and destroyed the Northern Nation and sent them into exile and scattered them to the four winds (2 Kings 17 etc), where they would be lost to their ancestry and inheritance, and this is the origins for the story of The Ten Lost Tribes. Subsequently to this, of course, the southern nation of Judah was dispersed by the Babylonians for 70 years.

Some people reject the teaching of the Ten Lost Tribes out-of-hand, without letting the Scriptures speak on this subject. Some do so because there have been some groups that have misinterpreted these Scriptures or misapplied them in some way. However, we can not reject the wealth of Scripture on this subject because of the false assumptions or practices of other. If so, we would have to reject Biblical Judaism and Christianity on similar grounds. When I was in Israel, I specifically asked about four Rabbi what they believed about the Ten Lost Tribes, and without exception, they believed that they were out there somewhere, and that in the end days God would restore them to Israel. It is failure to realize this Scriptural Truth that has led to much misinterpretation of the Word. For more on this I would direct one to my post "The Theocratic Covenant" and especially the Tenth Section of the Same.

Some say that when Judah returned after their Babylonian captivity that Ephraim also returned and was thus absorbed into the southern nation however this can be Scripturally refuted in several ways.

In the prophecy in Ezekiel 37 about the Valley of Dry Bones, the Lord goes on to describe the Two Sticks (vs19), that represent these two separate nations that will continue as such until the end days when they will then be reunited into one nation (vs 22).

That this was not fulfilled at the return from Babylon is proven by the fact that at that time the Davidic Throne and House will also be restored to them (vs24) which Peters has proven was left desolate by the Lord (Mt 23:38, Lk 13:35 where House can only be the Davidic Throne), which condition still continues to this day with no recognized king on the throne.

This is further supported by the description that this reunification with restored Throne will occur when they receive the New Covenant (vs 26) which does not occur, as Y'shua said in the above verse, until he returns at the end of the tribulation when they say "blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord" when he steps down on the Mt. of Olives (Zechariah). And this also occurs when God's Tabernacle is with them again (here in Ezekial 37:27) which doesn't happen until the very end of the tribulation (Rev 21).

Additional proof is that the Nation of Ephraim was predicted to be "a wanderer among the nations" (Hos 9:17) and that they would 'forget' their identity, and no longer be called "a people of God" but in the end days ("after two days he will revive us, on the third day we will live in his site"), their identity would be revealed and their status to God would be restored. There are no such prophecies concerning Babylon or Judah or any other nation other than Ephraim. And thus, these two points alone prove that the Nation of Ephraim, as a nation, did not return at the end of the Babylonian dispersion, regardless of how many individuals did return and were subsequently absorbed into the Nation of Judah, and, therefore, they are still out there somewhere.

It is for this very reason that the Lord commissioned the 12 Apostles to "The Lost Sheep of the House of Israel" (Mt 10:6). Their last known location was in the Assyrian Empire. Some were sent into what is now Iran and grew into the powerful nation of the Parthians that took the Holy Land from the Romans around 40 BC (Yair Davidy "The Israelite origins of Western Peoples"), and is listed as such in the Scriptures (2 King 17:6 compare with Peter in Acts 2:9 - Parthians, Medes and Elamaites). Others were displaced to what is today the Caucus mountain region which is the area of Pontus in Acts 2, and would include the "strangers" of Rome, for this term is descriptive of the lost tribes (1 Pet 1:1, Is 56:3, Ob 1:12, James 1:1 also 'scattered' 'dispersed' etc).

Eventually, according to the Assyrian Histories, the majority of these two groups merged together into the Scythian Hordes that migrated through Northern Europe into the British Isles, which is why Brit-ish means "The Covenant Man." From there this large group and other smaller groups wandered to "the ends of the earth" where they may be found to this day.

The wandering and resultant nationhood of Ephraim in the end days is further supported and explained, in the Scripture when God gave his blessing to King David, and he said that HE would bring Israel into their own land where "they will never move from again" (2 Sam 7:10) and this is referring to the northern nation being given a second land grant (which they are entitled to as the "Firstborn") outside the nation of Israel, other than in the promised land where they were already settled when He spoke those words to David. Thus, in these end days, we must seek for the identity of Ephraim as a nation outside the promised land, from which they have been exiled for 2700 years, and this is not Biblically true of any other Nation or peoples in the world.

Their land is further described by Isaiah (18) as "The Land shadowing with wings which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia" whose land "the rivers have spoiled" (Mississippi, Colorado, Arkansas, Alamo, Rio Grande, Connecticut etc) and a people that were "terrible from their beginning" as was Ephraim (see book of Judges). It says that their land was "meted out" or well measured or surveyed, fulfilled by Louis and Clark and many others since then including G. Washington who was a surveyor before he was a General and President.

This passage is describing a nation and land in the end days when God "lifts up an ensign on the mountains" (Rockies) and "blows a trumpet" "before the harvest" (Grape Harvest - Late Summer and Early Autumn - around the Feast of Tabernacles) and that, in that time they shall bring "a gift" to the Lord at Mt. Zion in Israel.

When we let the Scripture interpret itself then we see that this land and nation can only be the Nation of Ephraim for this exact phrase is repeated in Zephaniah (3:10) and tells us exactly who this people is that dwells "beyond the rivers of Ethiopia" (where they were exiled to) when the Lord, in that passage, calls them "The Daughter of My Dispersed" an obvious reference to the Ten Lost Tribes, who shall "bring my offering" exactly parallel to "the gift" in Isaiah above of the same people, proving that this is a sound interpretation.

And, likewise, this occurs in the end days when the Lord "rises to the prey" (3:8) and the captivity is returned after He has "cut off nations" and poured "upon them my fury" and devours the earth by "the fires of my jealousy". And thus, these two verses combine their testimony together to tell us that the Nation of Ephraim shall send a delegation to Israel at the end of the tribulation with a gift or offering to the Lord in Zion.

This nation is assuredly and, in fact, can only be "the righteous nation that keeps the truth" of Isaiah (26:2) whose way is prepared before them by this commandment of the Lord, when they return to "the land of Judah" when God appoints salvation (Y'shua) "for walls and bulwarks" after he has laid low "the lofty city" (rebuilt Babylon - Rev 17, Zechariah 5:11 spoken after the 'destruction' of Babylon by the Medes and Persians), and after the travail (vs 17) and resurrection (vs 19) and indignation when the Lord comes out of "his place" to punish the inhabitants of the earth. Note especially (vs 15) that the nation will increase "unto the ends of the earth" (see also Job 37:3, 38:13, Ps 22:27, 59:13, Is 41:9, 43:6, Mic 5:4, Zech 9:10, Acts 13:47, Rom 10:18, Ps 2:8, Is 24:16, Acts 1:8).

The reason that last point is important is because the blessing of Moses to Joseph (Deut 33:13-17) and thus to the Lost Nation of Ephraim locates the tribes in the ends of the earth in the end days, all of which can not be coincidence coming, as it does, from the Holy Spirit, and can only be referring to Ephraim and no other nation.

This blessing goes on to describe the fruitfulness (Ephraim means 'doubly fruitful') of their land. He is given "the dews of heaven" and the "precious things of heaven" and the fruit brought forth from the sun and moon, the mineral wealth of "the ancient mountains" (Rockies) and "the everlasting hills" (Appalachians) and the precious things of the earth.

Thus, since Israel is blessed above every other nation on earth and since Ephraim is doubly blessed above Israel than this means that only America can fulfill this end times prophecy as "the breadbasket of the world".

That this prophecy is describing the nation of Ephraim in the end days is proven by the opening verse when "God came from Teman" with "ten thousands of his saints" but further is that this blessing is founded in Jacob's blessing of the tribes (Gen 49) which he specified was describing the tribes "in the last days" (vs 1), where the same agricultural blessings are enumerated for Ephraim.

He also mentions that in these same end days that Ephraim ("the crown of him that was separated from his brethren") would be "sorely grieved" by the archers, but that he would stand strong under this chastisement.

The book of Amos is a parallel to the Book of Hosea in many points (both being specifically commissioned to preach to the Northern Nation of Ephraim and not the Southern Nation of Judah - failure to understand this and make this distinction produces an enormous amount of misinterpretation from the Word), like the sin of the people (the worst among the common people being slander) and the politicians, as well as the coming judgments by the Beasts of the Field (Hosea 13).

But Amos is mostly concerned, it seems, with the politicians of Ephraim in the end days, which he calls, "the Chief of the Nations" (6:1) which can only be fulfilled by America, at this late date. This is proven when we realize that a casual reading shows that the book is end times in scope.

It is when "The Lord shall roar from Zion" (1:2), and when he tells them to "prepare to meet your God" who "treads upon the high places of the Earth" (4:12-13), during "The Day of The Lord" (5:18), when "The Sun goes down at Noon" (8:9), when they "mourn for their only son" (8:10).

With this multitude of witness than it is only the prejudiced reader who can not see that the Nation of Ephraim, to whom Amos was speaking, must exist as a distinct and separate nation, in the end times and that they will be the Chief or Head of all the Nations at that time, which, again, can only be fulfilled by America. Keep in mind that at the time that Amos first spoke those words, in no way was Ephraim the Chief of the Nations. Thus, this Scripture must be fulfilled in the end days.

In Isaiah 28 "The Crown of Pride" of "the drunkards of Ephraim" is specifically stated to "rule this people which is at Jerusalem" which latter can only be referring to Judah.

The point is that the Prophet spoke these words after the Northern Nation of Ephraim had been exiled by the Assyrians and at no time did they ever rule over Judah or the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Taken with the obvious end times symbolism employed, can only lead to the same conclusion that one draws from Amos. It is when they have made "a covenant with death" when the Lord shall "rise up" and perform "his strange work" when there is "a consumption even determined upon the whole earth" all of which can only be referring to the tribulation which is confirmed by the Apostle Paul (Rom 9:8) when he calls this "consumption" God's "short work" which is the exact definition of the word in the Hebrew, and is obviously where he drew the reference from.

So, here we see, once again, that the Nation of Ephraim will be a distinct and separate nation just before the beginning of the tribulation and that they will be ruling over the nation of Judah, which can only be fulfilled by America.

For a more Theologically intense aspect of America being the Lost Nation of Ephraim I recommend reading through "The Theocratic Covenant" on this site and especially section 10 which deals specifically with this very subject and is a thorough exposition of the Scriptures relating to this Nation as it relates to the New Covenant established by Y'shua. It also provides a sure key to interpreting the parables which cannot be understood outside of this information.

As well, for the mature reader, this teaching is finalized in my post Theoferrum, but most people can not handle the information contained in that post yet, but, one day, they will understand "perfectly" about that post.

So we see that the Scriptural teaching is that the Ten Lost Tribes, led by The Nation of Ephraim, would be driven into exile for their sins and become wanderers among the nations of the world until they reached their own land at the ends of the earth after 2000 yrs and would be fruitfull as the Ten Thousands of Ephraim and would actually become the Chief of the Nations and rule over Judah just before the tribulation began when their chastisement would begin, which they would endure and, having repented and turned back to God, would send a delegation with a gift back to Israel which they would offer to Y'shua at the start of the Millennium.

That should pretty much spell it out I would think...
